WHY SHOULD A BUYER OR SELLER CHOOSE A TABB BOARD CERTIFIED BROKER?

  Our Business Environment:

In today's business environment, both Buyers and Sellers are in need of a professional that can guide them through the difficult task of acquiring or selling a business. For Example, most Sellers do not have an "Exit Strategy" to place their business in the hands of a qualified Buyer or family individual. The BCB, with his/her experience, can help the Seller focus on how to get their business ready for sale.

Most business owners treat their business as an extension of their personal life. The Seller's personal treatment of a business is not normally recognized by a potential Buyer. The Buyer looks for how the business stands on its own and what he/she can bring to it as a "Value Add". The BCB, through his/her extensive education and continuing profession requirements, is prepared to recognize the personal treatment of the Seller and knows how to ready the business and present it so that the Buyer can understand all aspects of the entity. A qualified BCB will assist the Buyer in recognizing the businesses' value and help the Buyer formulate a business plan to take the business to the next level under new ownership.

The BCB, with recognized experience and knowledge, will prepare a professional marketing package utilizing his/her knowledge of the industry, techniques in evaluation to provide a "fair market value" value of the business, select target markets and eventually validate the qualifications of a Buyer.

As a TABB MEMBER, having the knowledge gained through obtaining the initial educational qualifications and continuing education, will insure that you, as a BCB, that you will benefit not only monetarily, but professionally from your association with TABB. Your reputation in regards to ethics, honesty, knowledge and integrity, not to mention the "satisfaction" of clients and the resultant referrals, will set you apart from the "average" broker. If you are a TABB member and have not considered qualifying as a Board Certified Broker, we encourage you to do so.

If every TABB member would resolve to obtain this certification, our association would be the strongest in the nation and recognized the world over as true "professionals". Contact the TABB Administrator today for information on how YOU can become a Board Certified Broker and take your profession to the next level!

CONTINUING EDUCATION AND RE-CERTIFICATION:

Each BCB shall be required to participate in continuing professional development activities as are appropriate to the nature of our profession. Such activities, and the extent to which they are required, have been established by the Texas Association Of Business Brokers.
Upon awarding of the designation, a BCB shall endeavor to continue his/her professional standing through a program designed to provide continuing professional education (CPE) and staying abreast of trends and activities influencing our industry, plus being active in the local or State organization. It is hoped that BCB designees will be highly visible and active in all facets of our industry and be role models for others in the industry.
